BLOGGING... we do it because we need to keep our sanity, or share our voice... or just test the waters of various skills and interests that we have. If you don't have a blog and are considering one... start it here. And share it with your sistas.  (but you don't have to)

Suggestions for improvement for DCSG new site

Monday, July 14th @ 6:31 PMpost viewed 209 times

Thank you so much everyone for your patience as we transition to the new site. Hopefully by now, you've had time to look around, test things out and get a feel for how the site works. I know it is very different from our old yahoogroup but I am hoping that you are finding it a better place to gather together.

With that said... please use this blog to post your comments, suggestions, complaints, rants and even raves and kudos about the new site, our new direction and what's going on with the Sistagirls.

Just leave a comment after the blog, I will definitely read each message and try to respond as quickly as possible to your concerns.

Thanks in advance for helping to make this a great experience for black women.

I'd like the digest again please.  My day is such that I'm always going, going, going but I have my Blackberry and can keep up with what's going on via email.  The individual emails proved to be far too much for me to be able to wrap my brain around and now I am only prompted to "stop by" and see what you guys are up to when I receive an email from the admins.

Let me know as soon as this is back up and running.  Pretty please with sugar, whipped cream and a cherry on top!  :)

Also...I'd like to comment as CreoleInDC and not as MonicaMingo.

Dats all.  :)

Hey Ms. Lady...

I'll have to work with the site developers about a digest option. Unfortunately, iGroops just doesn't offer it at all.

I'll keep you posted on what we come up with.

I would love to see the pages shorten, maybe 25 posts to a page, with the newest post at the top.

I also see that we have 2 entertainment boards and a few other duplicate boards.  Maybe one of them can be deleted.

Also, my biggest complaint is those who reply from there email, when it comes to the board it comes in a new thread.  Is there a way it can go straight to the original thread?

Hey Tina,

I don't know the answers to any of your questions. I will have to check with the tech support/developers to see if they can show me/tell me how to do that. As it stands, I don't think we have that ability.

thx for asking!!!!  i am only doing the free part of the site for now, and i haven't played with the site much except to read the emails.  however, i do have one suggestion.  it would be nice if the emails would post the name of the person sending the message.  maybe this is a feature for the paying members :-).  as of now, i primarily read the messages via my hotmail account, and what comes up as the name of the sender is 'dc sistagirls' for all the messages. if there is another way to view the messages so that i know who the sender is, please inform.  again, i haven't played with the site much.  thx.

There's no way to change the emails so that a sender's name comes to your email. iGroops is different from yahoogroups in that regard.

You're not seeing something different as an unpaid member from the paid members. What is limited is your access to different tools on the site. I have the settings placed so that unpaid members can still receive information (like emails, calendar notices, etc.) but they are restricted from adding to the site (outside of the communications/message board).

Commentary from many group members made it clear to me that not everyone needed or wanted access to all the bells & whistles of the site. Many of the members just wanted to continue to be able to connect with other sistagirls. So, the free option is a way to serve both groups of members.
